One More Turn: Bring Play to the Table
Cards, dice and boards offer another way to spend time together. Start with the group’s available time and appetite for rules, then choose a game that fits.
Teach toward the first decision
Explain the goal, what happens on a turn and how the game ends. Demonstrate one sample turn. Keep detailed exceptions nearby and introduce them when they become relevant.
Give everyone room
Arrange the table so components are reachable and readable. Offer help without taking someone else’s turn. If players are learning, agree whether the first round is a practice round.
End at a good point
Choose a stopping time in advance and respect it. A shorter session that people want to repeat beats an unfinished marathon.
